DNA Helps Nonprofits Maximize Their Brand Power

Rochelle Williams, with Partners for Active Living, presents an elevator speech as part of Brand Control's interactive break-out sessions.

Greenville, S.C. (September 27, 2011) – DNA Creative Communications (DNA) hosted “Brand Control: Harnessing the Power of Your Message” at the University Center of Greenville last week. The workshop was the third session of DNA’s 2011 “Shine the Light on Your Nonprofit” educational series.  More than 60 representatives from nonprofits across the Upstate attended the seminar which stressed the importance of establishing and maintaining consistency in brand identity.

Brand Control also featured Attorney Doug Lineberry of Dority & Manning, P.A., who spoke about the fundamentals of trademarks and the advantages to registering your brand.  In addition, there were six interactive table sessions mediated by DNA team members. Table discussions allowed nonprofits to interact and network while gaining knowledge about branding concepts.  Topics included creating a brand guide, uniform messaging and developing an effective elevator pitch.

The “Shine the Light on Your Nonprofit” series was originally developed as a resource to help the widespread communications needs among the nonprofit community. In 2010, 400 attendees representing over 120 nonprofit organizations participated in the seminars.  The next session of the 2011 series is “Power Surge: Pitching Your PR” and will be held on November 16 at CU-ICAR.
